Rajasthan is known for its bright sunshine, hot summers and cool winter nights. The state has four main seasons: summer, monsoon, post-monsoon and winter.
Jaipur and most of our project locations experience very hot weather from April to June, pleasant evenings after the monsoon, and cool to cold nights during winter.
Summer is usually very hot and dry. Daytime temperatures in many parts of Rajasthan can go from around 32°C up to 45°C, and in some desert areas can even reach higher.
Afternoons are the hottest time of day, so most outdoor activities are planned in the mornings and late afternoons during these months.
The monsoon brings much-needed rain and some relief from the extreme heat. Temperatures generally stay between about 25°C and 35°C, but the air can feel humid.
Most of the annual rainfall arrives in this period, often in short, heavy showers. Roads may get wet or muddy, so waterproof footwear is useful.
After the monsoon, the weather becomes more comfortable. Days are warm, evenings are cooler, and the sky is usually clear.
Average daytime temperatures are often in the low to mid 30s°C, while nights start to feel pleasantly cool. This is a good season for travel and outdoor visits.
Winter is the main tourist season in Rajasthan. Days are generally sunny and pleasant, but mornings and nights can be quite cold, especially in January.
In some northern and desert areas of Rajasthan, night temperatures can drop close to or even below 0°C, while daytime temperatures usually stay between about 10°C and 25°C.
Many volunteers prefer to come between October and March, when the weather is more comfortable for travel and outdoor work. Days are usually clear, and you can also enjoy many local fairs and festivals.
However, every season has its own charm. If you come in summer or monsoon, you will experience a more intense side of Rajasthan’s climate and daily village life.
Your project schedule may adjust slightly according to the season, for example starting earlier in hot months or planning indoor activities during heavy rain.
Our team in Jaipur will always guide you about any seasonal changes so you can prepare properly and enjoy your time in Rajasthan.
Your donation helps us educate children, support health camps and protect the environment in and around Jaipur.
