About the Women’s Empowerment Program

This program supports women and older girls from slums and low-income neighbourhoods in and around Jaipur. Many of them have had limited access to education and work opportunities and are looking for a safe space to learn, share and grow.

At our partner centres, women attend basic education and skills classes that help them take small but important steps towards financial independence and greater confidence in their daily lives.

Your Role as a Volunteer

  • Help with simple English practice, basic maths or computer introductions, depending on your skills.
  • Assist with vocational skills sessions such as stitching, handicrafts or beauty basics when running.
  • Support informal workshops on topics like health, hygiene, confidence and goal-setting.
  • Encourage women to speak, ask questions and share their own ideas in a respectful space.
  • Prepare simple visual materials or activities that make learning easier to follow.

Who Can Join

This program is suitable for volunteers who are patient, sensitive and open to listening. You do not need to be an expert trainer. An interest in education, social work, gender issues or community development is helpful, along with a willingness to adapt to local realities.

Location & Stay

Women’s centres are located in Jaipur and nearby communities. Volunteers stay in a guest house or with a host family, often together with volunteers from other programs. Accommodation is simple but clean, and meals are cooked in a homely Indian style.

Dates & Duration

You can join on the 1st or 15th of each month. The minimum duration is 2 weeks, and you can extend up to 6 months. Longer stays allow you to build trust with the women and follow their progress more closely.

What’s Included

  • Pickup from Jaipur (or guidance from Delhi to Jaipur, if needed).
  • Orientation about the city, local culture and women’s centre guidelines.
  • Accommodation and meals during your placement.
  • Local coordination, translation support and regular check-ins.

Free Time

Outside class hours and at weekends you are free to explore Jaipur, visit nearby towns or simply spend more informal time getting to know the local community.

If you believe that supporting one woman can influence an entire family and community, the women’s empowerment program in Jaipur gives you a grounded way to contribute to that change.
