About the Teaching English Program

This program places you in government and community schools in and around Jaipur. Many students are first-generation learners whose families cannot afford extra tuition, so your time in the classroom can make a visible difference.

You support local teachers by focusing on simple, practical English and confidence-building activities, rather than formal exams or strict grammar teaching.

Your Role as a Volunteer

  • Lead or assist English conversation classes using games, stories and role plays.
  • Teach basic vocabulary, sentences and everyday expressions children can use in real life.
  • Help with simple reading, writing and speaking practice in small groups.
  • Support basic computer/IT introductions where facilities are available.
  • Encourage shy students to participate and build their confidence.

Who Can Join

This program is suitable for fluent English speakers who enjoy working with children or teenagers. You do not need to be a professional teacher. Clear pronunciation, patience and a willingness to prepare simple activities are more important than formal qualifications.

Location & Stay

Schools are located in Jaipur and nearby communities. You will stay in a guest house or with a host family, usually sharing with other volunteers. Accommodation is simple but clean, and you will receive home-style Indian meals.

Dates & Duration

Start dates: 1st and 15th of every month. The minimum duration is 2 weeks and you can stay up to 6 months, depending on your plans and visa. Please note that most schools are closed in May and June for summer holidays.

What’s Included

  • Airport pickup in Jaipur (or from Delhi by prior arrangement).

  • Accommodation and meals during your program.

Free Time

Afternoons and weekends are usually free for you to explore Jaipur’s forts and old city, visit nearby villages or plan trips with other volunteers to places like Agra or Pushkar.
