We welcome volunteers from different countries, backgrounds and ages, as long as they are open-minded, respectful and willing to learn. Many volunteers are students, gap-year travellers or professionals taking a break, but older volunteers are also very welcome.
For most of our programs you do not need a specific degree or formal qualification. Basic spoken English, good health, patience and a positive attitude are usually enough. If a project needs special skills, we will clearly mention this in the description.
You can usually join from one week up to several months, depending on the project and your visa. Many volunteers choose 2–4 weeks to start with. If you wish to stay longer, we can discuss options and help you plan a suitable schedule.
Your work depends on the program you choose. Examples include teaching basic English, helping with child care and activities, supporting women’s groups, assisting with health and hygiene awareness, or joining environment and community projects.
Most volunteers stay in a guesthouse or host family in Jaipur or a nearby area. Accommodation is simple but clean, with basic furniture, shared common spaces and a friendly atmosphere. Details of your specific accommodation will be sent to you before arrival.
Yes, during your project we normally provide two or three simple, home-style Indian meals per day, depending on the program and accommodation. Vegetarian food is easy to arrange, and we try our best to consider special dietary needs if you inform us in advance.
Your safety is very important to us. We work with known communities and local partners, and our coordinators are available to support you. As in any city, you should use normal common sense, follow our local advice and respect cultural norms to stay safe and comfortable.
You can travel from Delhi to Jaipur by domestic flight, train or bus. Flights are quick and convenient, trains are comfortable when booked in advance, and government buses are a budget-friendly option. We will guide you on the best choice for your arrival time and budget.
Most non-Indian passport holders need a valid visa to enter India. The exact type of visa depends on your nationality, length of stay and program. Please read our “Indian Visa” page and always check the latest rules on the official Indian visa website before applying.
The program fee generally covers administration, training, accommodation, meals at the project site, local support and basic transport related to the program. It does not include international flights, personal travel insurance, visa fees, personal spending or weekend trips.
Daily costs in Rajasthan can be quite low compared to many Western countries. Many volunteers find that around 50 USD per week is enough for personal expenses like bottled water, snacks, local transport and small souvenirs, but this depends on your lifestyle.

We recommend modest clothing suitable for warm weather, one or two warm layers for winter evenings, comfortable walking shoes or sandals, basic medicines, a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and any personal items you need.
